Japan’s Agriculture Minister Visits MIRAI’s Plant Factory in Kashiwa
On August 21, 2026, Mr. Norikazu Suzuki, Japan’s Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, visited MIRAI’s artificial-light plant factory in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture.

During the visit, Minister Suzuki toured the cultivation area where romaine lettuce, green leaf lettuce, and other leafy vegetables are produced. We introduced our year-round stable production system, resource-efficient cultivation methods, environmental control technologies, and use of sensor data.
We also presented our plant factory projects in Japan and overseas. We exchanged views on stable food supply, food security, and the potential for Japanese Food & Agri-Tech and plant factory technologies to contribute to global markets.

Following the visit, Minister Suzuki expressed his expectation that the plant factory sector could become “one of the pillars of Japan’s growth.”
We will continue to apply our plant factory technologies and operational expertise to support sustainable and reliable food production in Japan and around the world.
